A CO₂ laser cutting machine is a nonmetal processing device that uses carbon dioxide gas as the laser medium. It converts electrical energy into laser light energy, outputting highenergy infrared laser beam. The focused laser beam melts, vaporizes or burns the material surface to achieve cutting and engraving.
Unlike mechanical knives, it is a noncontact processing method. There is no physical extrusion on work pieces, so no tool wear occurs during production. It is one of the most widely-used laser equipment for nonmetal industries worldwide.
The laser tube inside the machine excites CO₂ gas to generate infrared laser with wavelength of 10.6μm. This wavelength is highly absorbed by most non-metallic materials. The laser beam travels through reflective mirrors and focusing lens, concentrating high energy onto a tiny spot on material surface. Material instantly vaporizes, while auxiliary blowing blows away residues to get clean cutting lines. The moving system drives laser head to follow graphic paths, realizing automatic cutting or engraving according to design files.
✅Suitable materials Acrylic, wood, MDF, plywood, all kinds of fabric, felt, leather, paper, cardboard, rubber, foam, fabric textiles, some plastic sheets.
Highlight for textile: When cutting fabrics, laser heatseals edges simultaneously to avoid thread fraying, greatly reducing post-process trimming work.
❌ Not suitable materials Pure metal, mirrored stainless steel, PVC material (produces corrosive harmful gas when cut), certain fluorinecontaining plastics.
1. CO₂ Laser Tube The heart of the whole machine, determines output laser power and service life. Glass laser tubes are costeffective for most workshops; RF metal laser tubes feature longer lifespan and stable performance for heavyduty continuous production.
2. Optical Parts: Reflective Mirrors & Focus Lens Mirrors reflect laser beam, focus lens concentrates laser energy. They are consumable accessories. Dust and contamination will directly affect cutting quality, requiring regular cleaning.
3. Water Chiller CO₂ glass laser tube generates massive heat while working. The chiller circulates cooling water to keep laser tube temperature stable, which protects laser tube and avoids power drop. Never run machine without cooling water.
4. Air Assist System (Air Pump / Air Compressor) Blows compressed air onto cutting area, removes melted debris, prevents lens burning, and delivers cleaner cutting edges. Very critical for fabric cutting.
5. Motion System & Control Board Controls laserhead moving speed and path, reads graphic files such as DXF, AI, PLT. Stable motion system guarantees consistent cutting precision in batch jobs.
6. Exhaust & Fume Extraction System Laser processing produces smoke and odor. Fume extractor or exhaust fan is mandatory to keep workshop environment safe.
1. Laser Power Common power options: 60W /80W /100W /130W /150W.
· Low power (60-80W): thin fabric, paper, light engraving work
· Medium power (100-130W): thick fabric, leather, mediumthickness acrylic & wood
· High power (150W+): thick nonmetal materials, longtime highvolume production
1. Working Area Means maximum processing size. Select according to your common rawmaterial dimensions. Custom working size is available.
2. Cutting Precision & Repeat Positioning Accuracy Normally ±0.02-0.05mm for qualified CO₂ laser machines. Critical for intricate patterns such as textile apparel cutouts, fine acrylic crafts.
3. Cutting Speed Speed can be adjusted freely according to material thickness. Higher power supports faster cutting speed and higher production output.
· Textile & garment industry: Cutting cloth, embroidery patches, felt, home textile accessories, frayfree fabric cutting
· Advertising industry: Acrylic signs, wood letter cutting, craft engraving
· Craft & gift industry: Wood crafts, leather engraving & cutting, paper art
· Furniture industry: Wood carving, plywood cutting
· Toy & model manufacturing: MDF model cutting
1. Non-contact processing, no pressure deformation on thin & soft fabric materials
2. High precision, capable of complex graphic and tiny detailed patterns
3. Fast processing speed, suitable for massproduction orders
4. Clean cutting edges. For fabric: heat-seal edge to prevent fraying; for acrylic: glossy polished cut surface
5. High flexibility: one machine can finish both cutting and engraving tasks
6. Easy operation, only graphic files required, no complex mould making, short order lead-time
